Flowers of the Desert

flowers of the desert, aziza fadwa, bellydance, bellydancer, belly dancer, danceThe Flowers of the Desert was a professional Belly Dance troupe that had its debut in 1999, when the art director, Aziza Fadwa, and some of her advanced students performed to high acclaim in Richmond, Virgina. Since then, the Flowers have performed to rave reviews in several states, but always felt at home in the Triangle area of North Carolina.

The Flowers’s style of dance was primarily Raks Sharki or traditional Egyptian style of Belly Dance and continued until 2007, when the art director, Aziza Fadwa had to take a sabbatical from the troupe.  There are some pictures in the Gallery of their performances around the state.

Now that the sabbatical is finished, Aziza is starting another troupe with  her intermediate and advanced students. As yet, the new troupe as no name, but has publicly performed a lively Saudi cane dance  twice and were very well received.   There will be more info on this new troupe as it grows and we find a name!
