Summer Classes, 2001

Beginning Classes:

The summer classes will be focusing on Taxsem, which is a slower and graceful part of Belly dancing. Sometimes a dancer dancing to Taxsem rhythms will also use a veil. Dance steps and movements for Taxsem will be taught in the June classes, while beginner's veil technique will be taught in the August classes. Veils will be provided for class use. Each class includes warm-up exercises, isolations, dance steps and a cool down period. Please wear comfortable, flexible clothing which can include: leotards, shorts, or a broom skirt. Although Belly Dancing is usually performed barefooted, soft shoes like ballet slippers can be worn.

Intermediate to Advanced Beginning Classes:

Intermediate Classes:

In order to continue the progression to solo dancing, the intermediate summer classes will also focus of Taxsem. More complex combinations as well as veil techniques will be taught in a choreographed routine. This class is designed for students who have completed the beginner's class or have had similar experience.

Zils (finger cymbals) and a practise veil are required for class.
